Personality: Hinata is very shy and quiet. She gets nervous very easily, talks in a small voice and pauses a lot when she speaks because she's almost always unsure of herself. Even so, she's dedicated to making herself stronger as a shinobi and does her best at everything she does. She doesn't like it when people talk badly about others and tries to believe the best in everyone. When put in a strange situation, she's more likely to freeze up for a few seconds out of surprise, but then she'll get a handle on herself even though she's still confused.
History: First born of the illustrious Hyuuga clan, Hinata was slated to be the clan head when she gets old enough. She is a year [or two] younger than her first cousin, Neji, who is the son of her father’s twin brother. The Hyuuga clan divides itself into the main house and branch family. Even though their fathers were twins, Hinata’s father was born first, putting him in the main house, and Neji’s father born minutes later and in the branch family. She grows up under the care of her father and fails to live up to his high expectations. He waves it off when Kurenai, Hinata’s teacher, comes to take her into Team 8, saying that she is worth less than her younger sister, Hanabi. Always having had self-esteem issues, she simply listens to this outside the door and leaves with Kurenai.
Later on, she is inspired to try her best by watching Naruto, who is always failing but trains harder than anyone. She develops a crush on him that lasts ‘til this day and tries her hardest in everything that she does. Even so, she still does horribly on missions because she freezes up at the last minute.
She participates in the chuunin exams with her team, consisting of Shino and Kiba, partially because she wants to improve, but mostly because her teammates could not compete by themselves. They make it through the test and the Forest of Death, but the third part of the exam tests her far more than the others as she is matched with Neji, the Hyuuga prodigy who is very bitter about his fate and that he will always be beneath her despite his skills.
Kiba tells her to give up, but Hinata remembers Naruto’s fight and braves the battle. Neji ridicules her and points out all of her flaws, crushing her will and self-esteem. She tries to say she’ll change herself, but he over talks her until Naruto gets furious and shouts from the side-lines, giving Hinata the confidence boost she needs to start the fight. She looses horribly after Neji stops her chakra flow and nearly kills her before the team jounin [Gai, Kurenai, and Kakashi] in step.
Naruto fights Neji later and wins, but Hinata collapses half-way through the match and doesn’t see its finale. She sees Naruto off from afar when he leaves with Jiraiya and she isn’t seen in the series again until the Naruto returns from his training. She then proceeds to blush, stutter, and faint.
After the time skip and her fainting spell, Team 8 [Kiba, Shino, Hinata] joins up with Team 7 [Sakura, Naruto, Kakashi] and Yamato to track down Uchiha Itachi in order to find and bring back Sasuke. They end up meeting with Kabuto first and she discovers that a third of his body has been taken over by Orochimaru after he injected himself with the sanin’s cells. They regroup again to the 8-man team and discover Tobi. Hinata uses her Byakugan to determine where he is by following his chakra position. After he ‘teleports’ away, she pinpoints where a large disturbance was in the area and followed the team to where the battle between Itachi and Sasuke occurred, but he was already gone, taken away by Tobi.
